Central City Wastewater Treatment Facility Phase 3

The Central City Wastewater Treatment facility is located in Jefferson GA and was a completely new system. This facility is capably of treating 1 million gallons of wastewater per day. The project included the installation of two (2) sequencing batch reactor (SBR) tanks that combine the aeration and settling zones of a normal activated sludge plant into one sequencing system. Additional components of the new facility included a post-equalization and digester tank, a new influent and site pump station, a new sludge dewatering facility, chlorine disinfection building and grit removal system. A new blower building and administration and control building were also constructed. The main tanks in this plant were constructed using pre-stressed concrete techniques. The plant is compressed into a relatively small footprint of three acres. A programmable logic control and monitoring system was installed to provide full automation for ease of operation. This project was completed within one year.
