Chattahoochee Valley Water Treatment Plant
Chattahoochee Valley Water System
The Chattahoochee Valley Water Treatment Plant is located in Lanett, Alabama. The project was constructed to treat and provide drinking water for all of the communities that make up the water district in eastern Alabama. The “Actiflo” Water Treatment System is a continuous sand filtering and washing system with a traditional settling and detention tank. Alum sludge is produced at the front end of the plant and is conveyed to a set of recirculation pumps that pump it back into the system where it is repeatedly cleaned in the treatment process. The sand filtering is done by the use of a set of hydrocyclones that continuously circulate the sand at the front end of the plant. The “Actiflo” system is the first installation in the state of Alabama for I. Kruger, Inc. The treatment equipment is installed in a reinforced concrete structure with a pre-engineered metal building on top of the structure. A separate masonry building holds the chemical equipment used in the treatment process. The process is fully automated and integrated with the plant control system.
